The newly developed process refractometer iPR B³ replaces the well known model iPR Basic². The instrument continuously measures the refractive index of the process liquid. From this fundamental measurement the concentration of a binary or quasi-binary liquid mixture can be computed. The measurement is independent of light intensity and is free of signal drift resulting in accurate process control. Colour, turbidity, undissolved particles or gas bubbles do not affect the measurement. This new refractometer comes with an extended measuring range up to 90% Brix (refractive index 1.52). It is suitable for almost all applications in food and pharmaceutical production and has many applications in mechanical, automotive engineering and chemistry. The stylish stainless steel housing of the sensor is partially equipped with a blue anodized air cooling jacket. This cooling jacket protects the electronic components from overheating in process temperatures up to 80° C. CIP cleaning at the prescribed temperatures is of course possible but the instrument must be switched off.

The intergrated firmware makes the refractometer easy to set up and use. The iPR B³ is equipped with two relay outputs which can be used to activate alarms or other process actions such as a control valves (max. 1A, 24 DC).

The iPR B³ measuring head can be installed in pipes, reactors, vessels and mixing tanks, using different weld-in flanges. Our preferred joint system is VariVent. It allows easy installation through a plug-in clamping method. Some processes may require cleaning of the sensor face. There is an optional cleaning nozzle or a specially designed ultrasonic cleaning device.

Many standard scales such as Brix, Oechsle, ethylene glycol, sodium chloride, urea, can be preloaded into the unit and we can also provide customized concentration scales to suit your process.
