Tipping Bucket Rain Gauge
The HD2013 and HD2015 tipping bucket rain gauge is built from corrosion resistant material and is designed to withstand extreme conditions.
When the rain gauge fills with water the internal bucket tips to one side and empties, this tipping action triggers a reed switch. There are two compartments on the bucket, so as one side empties the other fills up. For climates that frequently encounter below-freezing temperatures, it's possible to order the rain gauge with an internal heater that automatically turns on just ahead of the temperature dropping below freezing. The contact output of the rain gauge can also be interpreted by the onboard electronics to increment an analog output with each tip. Furthermore, the size of the bucket determines the resolution of the rain gauge, from 0.1mm, 0.2mm, or 0.5mm of rain per tip of the bucket, specify when ordering.
