The UniPol series includes polarimeters very similar to the Polartronic range of polarimeters in terms of range and accuracy but uses a discrete and progammable measurement methods as opposed to the continous method used in the Polartronics. The Unipol is a single wavelength unit, normally 589nm, but others are available on request. The econonical L model designed for more routine and educational applications provides a resolution of 0.01 degree. The L1000 and 2000 offer higher resolution as shown below. The UniPols determine the
optical activity of a solution by means of a scanning polarizer. This method ensures
constant resolution throughout the range, high accuracy and
repeatability. Also these polarimeters are up to 5 times faster than
competitive instruments. The UniPol series are automatic scanning polarimeters designed to provide discrete and programmed measurement. The UniPol series work with standard Polarimeter
tubes and continuous
flow tubes. You can also order special tubes for temperature
measurement and small micro-tubes for precious samples. There are
several models to choose from suitable for routine lab work, and
saccharimetry. These instruments are ideal for quality control and
research because of their outstanding specification and performance
at a reasonable price. The L model, single wavelength, is particulary suitable for educational applications thanks to its low cost and wide range of capabilities.
The software implements sample identification numbers, statistics for multiple measurements and user definable printouts individually configurable for each of the 4 available methods. All models of the Unipol L-series conform with the regulations of the European and American Pharmacopoeias as well as to the GLP/GMP standards.
Temperature compensation is automatic when used with polarimetric tubes or quartz control plates with a temperature sensor installed. The Unipol L-series displays the actual sample temperature and compensates automatically for temperature deviation from the standard temperature. The corrected scale value (e.g. °Z, °S …) is displayed.
Various polarimeter tubes are available for different applications. With the use of micro tubes, even the smallest sample volumes are sufficient. The polarimeters Unipol L series are equipped with plug in connectors for the temperature sensor of the polarimetric tubes. If polarimeter tubes or quartz control plates with integrated temperature sensor are used the current sample or quartz temperature is indicated at the display. All models of Unipol L series are available as so-called "P version" for using polarimeter tubes fitted with Peltier elements.

Additional features include: Automatic adjustment of beam diameter, necessary for the use of micro tubes, and AWC (Automatic Wavelength Control) - Automatic calibration routine; Bright clear LCD display shows absolute rotation in degrees or sugar degrees or Z*2 sugar degrees. When a new sample is placed in the sample compartment the instrument automatically finds and displays the new reading within a couple of seconds. Scales are changed with the up down arrows. 'Reset' zeros the instrument when you first switch on.The Unipols include a ready to use RS232 data port which enables transmission of the data to a PC or serial printer
