	Through capillary action the buffer travels from the reservoir to the blot pack via porous supports, permanent wick, gel and membrane. This action optimizes the transfer of low and high molecular weight DNA / RNA from gel to membrane without mechanical damage to even the thinnest of gels.

The Scie-Plas capillary blotters contain a permanent optimized wick system, which draws up more fluid than inefficient overlapping filter wicks which, have largely been eliminated.
These systems ensure faster transfer of DNA and RNA samples for speedy Southern and Northern blots. Also, because the wick transfers buffer upwards and not laterally in any stage during the blotting process, multiple gels can be transferred with much less risk of contamination of DNA or RNA samples.
