Through Paint Ultrasonic Thickness Gauges

Wall Thickness Gauges Model TI-25MMX, TI25DLMMX, with data logging measures wall thickness and subtracts coating thickness

The new TI-25 Wall Thickness Gauge accurately measures wall thickness and the extent of corrosion of all metals, ceramics, glass and most rigid plastics - from only one side!
The TI-25 can be used in a Single Thickness Reading mode or in a Scan mode , where the probe is dragged over a large measuring area. The minimum thickness reading recorded during the "scan" will be displayed.
The TI-25 probe is waterproof and can be submerged in water. The gauge is impact-resistant and environmentally sealed to provide trouble-free operation under the toughest field conditions.

Features

  • Wall thickness on hard materials including corrosion of tank walls, piping and hull plates
  • Inspection of metals including steel, cast iron ( malleable, and spheroidal graphite ), aluminium, copper, brass, titanium, sheet metal, storage tanks, ships, structures and piping systems.
  • Inspection of non-metals including glass, ceramics and hard plastics (except acrylic resin)
  • Direct readout of thickness inches or mm
  • Automatic subtraction of coating thickness mode (Echo to Echo mode) (MMX models)
  • Built in test plate
  • Calibrate for a wide range of rigid materials
  • Scan mode for surveying large areas
  • Data Logging option
  • Acoustic velocity table for common materials included

NIST calibration stepUltrasonic thickness gauges use sound wave to measure wall thickness. Different types of materials have different inherent acoustic velocities. ( sound travels at different speeds through different materials ).For example the acoustic velocity of steel is 0.2330 inches/microsecond and that of aluminum is 0.2500 inches/microsecond. The TI 25MMX can be set to any acoustic velocity depending on the material being measured. The instruction book includes a table of acoustic velocities for common materials. Even if you don't know the acoustic velocity or your material you can measure it with the TI25 provided you have a sample of material of known thickness to start with. Picture to the right shows a NIST certified calibration stepped block.
The MMX versions work in either pulse echo mode - the standard mode for most wall thickness gages - or in echo-echo mode. In echo-echo mode the reciever listens for the second rebound echo resulting from the coating and uses this data to figure out the coating thickness.

The DL versions  incorporates a built-in memory for 1000 data points that can be separated into 10 separate "batches." The stored data can be downloaded to a serial printer or a personal computer. A Windows compatible data transfer program is included.
